It seems like I'm good about updating my DeviantART journal once every year or so, but I have not uploaded any actual art in such a long time. Without my high school teachers giving me constant guidance, I find that I am not motivated to draw something of my own creation. This has been weighing on me a lot lately, and I would actually like to get back in touch with my artistic side. I created a "25 Before 26" list - a list of 25 goals that I would like to complete before I turn 26 - and one my goals is to draw a self-portrait. I do not have a desk or designated creative space in my current apartment, but I am hoping that we can find a two-bedroom apartment when we move specifically so that I can have an art/crafting room. Beyond that, I'm also considering taking some art classes at Portland Community College, just to get back into the swing of things. Art is often a creative outlet for me, and I really do miss it.

By the way, if you're curious, you can follow my progress with my "25 Before 26" list at [link]

Rick and I have been living in Portland since June 2011, and we absolutely LOVE it here! The summer was beyond amazing, it was 70 degrees and sunny for three whole months. I never knew it was possible to enjoy being outside during the summer. We are nestled in between the Oregon coast and the Columbia River Gorge, two of the most beautiful and scenic areas I have EVER seen. We can't get enough of the ocean, rivers, waterfalls, mountains, and natural beauty that the Pacific northwest has to offer. Portland definitely earns its nickname as the Rose City; during the Spring and Summer, this city is covered in flowers. Right now, all of the cherry blossoms are in bloom, and it's truly magical. Portland is also a really fun, young city with a great public transportation system. Overall, I absolutely love it here, and I honestly don't know if we'll ever move out of the area. I suppose anything's possible though, right?

Yep, my husband and I have driven up to Astoria several times, and we recently spent an entire weekend there! We went to the Astoria Column, we checked out the sea lions on the docks, we went to Cape Disappointment... it was awesome. :)

(I thought I'd move this here haha.)

That's awesome though! It's neat to meet a fellow Aggie on dA! What did you get your Undergrad in, and what are you getting your Masters in?

I love it here though. It's such an awesome school!

I got my undergrad in Psychology with a minor in Business, and now I'm getting my Master's in Human Resource Development with a certificate in Women's and Gender Studies (I'm all over the place). My husband goes to A&M, too, and he's studying Ancient Greek.

What about you, what are you studying?

I don't think I've ever run into an another Aggie on DA!

Oh nice! That all sounds super interesting. I have only taken Psyc 107, and I honestly didn't really like it. I think it was more my professor than anything though.

I'm actually interested in a lot too haha. I am currently an English major, but after I finish ANSC 107/108 this semester, I'll be getting a double degree in Animal Science and English. I'm not going to be Pre-Vet though; I'm going to do the production track. If I don't go over hours with the double degree, I really, really want to get a minor in Spanish. I'd love to study other languages too, but I think my plate is pretty full as it is ha. I'm not sure if I want to try to get my Master's in something Animal Science related yet, but I'm also thinking about doing that and getting my Master's in English haha. I just like too much to not go to school for it. XD

My best friend actually has a dA account, but she just gets on to look at art and fave it. ^^ Otherwise, I haven't either. How funny though, out of so many different account on here that you would notice that haha. ^^

Aww, I'm sorry you didn't enjoy PSYC 107, because it's a terrific class if taken with Dr. Hull! Unless that's who you had... =P

English and Animal Science (and possibly Spanish), that's an interesting combination! What kind of job do you think you'll want when you're finally done with school? A Master's is definitely a good option to keep in mind. It only adds a couple more years of schooling, but opens up a world of new job opportunities. I love my grad classes- they're much smaller (between 10 and 20 people), and they rely more on discussion and activities rather than lectures. I only wish I had chosen a different school, because I have no interest in getting a PhD or doing research (I want to learn practical information that I can practice applying to the workplace), but I am at a very research-oriented school. Oh well, you live and you learn! :)
